Race Beneficiary:

In the spirit of collaboration to strengthen community, the funds from the L.L.Bean Fourth of July 10K are donated to the YMCA of Southern Maine. Over the past 11 years more than $160,000 has been raised through the road race specifically to provide financial assistance for children to participate in Y youth and family programs such as summer camp, pre-school, and youth swim team at the Casco Bay Branch in Freeport. The grand total over the past eleven years is equivalent to sending over 800 kids each to a week of summer day camp.

The YMCA of Southern Maine has been a strong and positive force in our community for more than 150 years. Today there are 4 branches: Casco Bay, Greater Portland, Northern York County, and Pineland, as well as 12 before and after school sites throughout Cumberland and Northern York Counties. With a commitment to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living, and fostering a sense of social responsibility, the Y ensures that every individual has access to the essentials to learn, grow, and thrive. Anchored in neighborhoods throughout Cumberland and Northern York County the Y has the long-standing relationships and physical presence not to just promise, but to deliver, lasting personal and social change. The Y is, and always will be, dedicated to building healthy, confident, connected and secure children, adults, families and communities.
